Throughout the world, hundreds of thousands of people die every day. They have all had a life and gone about their daily business in their own little worlds. Every life is important to the individual, to their friends and family, but few actually achieve anything of national importance and even fewer anything of international importance.

Then there are the exceptional ones, the ones who change life worldwide, the ones who change for ever the way the world works. Apple's Steve Jobs has been one of these.

He has been a true visionary who was able to imagine the future as it could be, rather than waiting for it to arrive, as most of us do.

He has not only changed the way that millions of people work, but has changed the way they THINK. He gave us things we didn't know we needed but now we could not possibly manage without.

This is a very sad day for the world. I'm sure that Apple will continue to innovate and provide many more technological developments but we must all wonder what we will miss without Steve's creative thought. It is even more sad to think that he will never see them.

The 26th Weobley Art Exhibition takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend and attracts people from all over the West Midlands. It is considered one of the best "affordable" art Exhibitions in the county.

Tourism business to contribute to UK recovery

The UK Government has acknowledged on many occasions that it is the small businesses that employ the most people and that it is these businesses that need help and support. It has also acknowledged the importance of UK Tourism to economic recovery. The next planned increase in fuel duty will add as much as 5p per litre to fuel including increased duty and VAT.

5p per litre is almost 24p per gallon. Increasing fuel prices will not only add increased delivery charges to everything we buy but will also damage the tourism industry which relies, as much as anything, on road transport. Tourism is not just hotels, b&bs etc but is attractions and activities such as theme parks, zoos, stately homes, National Trust properties, and day-visits to the seaside. Anything which discourages visitors from making these trips damages the tourism industry as a whole and damages the UK economy.

Whilst the increase may not actually add much to the cost, the psychological effect is to make drivers reluctant to make the journey. The Green Party may jump for joy at this but they fail to take into account that the result will be that tourism businesses will make less money, less profit, employ less people and will PAY LESS TAX.

The increase is a very short-sighted measure and we urge you to sign the petition at www.FairFuelUK.com to urge the Government to think again and also to request a fuel price stabiliser to keep fuel at an affordable level. Motoring journalist, Quentin Wilson, has already delivered a letter from the organisation to the Chancellor urging postponement of any increase. Already there are over 65,000 signatures so please ADD YOURS!
